PARIS PREKAS (1926\u20131999)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Paris – Alexandros Prekas was born in Athens in 1926. He graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts in 1952, where he studied painting under Dimitris Biskinis, Andreas Georgiadis, and Umbertos Argyros.<\/p>\n

In 1957 and 1959, he received an honorable mention and a painting award respectively in Paris, and in 1962, he was awarded the Silver Medal of the City of Paris at the Salon de l\u2019Art Libre. In 1963, he moved to Paris to continue his studies on a scholarship from the French Government.<\/p>\n

In the early stages of his career, Prekas created representational works depicting ships and Greek landscapes. He is considered the quintessential travel painter of Greece. Later in his career, he transitioned to more abstract forms, working within thematic cycles such as ports, horses, and tankers.<\/p>\n

His works can be found in foreign and Greek museums, in both public and private collections (including monumental-sized artworks), as well as in significant international and Greek private collections. In 2019, the art gallery Ikastikos Kyklos Sianti Gallery featured his prints\u2014now considered collectibles\u2014in the group exhibition “Group Portrait \u2013 The Artists of Our Heart”.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
